Something was wrong with Amai.
She and I werenât on the same page, which was rare. Every time I was around her, I picked up on her energy, and my reading was alarming because I saw how uninterested she had been with me. Truthfully, Amai hadnât been present in our marriage for a while. The sudden distance placed between us had me on high alert. Every fiber of my existence wanted to question her and ask what I needed to do to get her out of this funk, but I knew she wouldnât tell me the truth. Amai would always tell me that she was fine, and that annoyed the shit out of me.
At first, I thought maybe it was the pregnancy situation, but I felt in my heart that it wasnât the culprit for this weird place we were in. I was insanely obsessed with my wives being happy with me. If they werenât content, and I had the power to change that, I would in a heartbeat. The only dilemma I had was Amai wouldnât open up to me, for some odd reason. Over the years, we had bonded like a husband and wife should have. She told me her inner thoughts, and I revealed to her some of the things that I held close to my heart. I trusted Amai the same way I entrusted Raye and Jaide. They all held the same leverage in my life, and when one of them werenât on the right track, I wasnât fulfilled internally.
Like now, Amai had my full attention at a party that was packed to capacity. Futureâs
âLifeâs Goodâ blared on the floor we were on, as people, who were dressed in their best threads, mingled with each other. I wasnât present mentally because for most of the night, I watched Amai from across the room. Her insistence to stand on the other side of the floor left me feeling a little rejected, but I would never voice it.
She looked bored as she nursed a glass of red wine. Her ginger, bushy hair was styled in some kind of curls that rested past her shoulders. She had done an excellent job on her makeup, which was natural but with a deep burgundy lip. The stylist I had chosen for my ladies did a great job at styling them to their own personality. Her full breasts were on display in a black deep V-neck bodysuit. I had an impulse to order her to change her shirt, but I resisted. The coffee-toned leather skirt had her legs looking like she benched pressed weights on a regular. Amaiâs legs were one of my favorite parts of her body. They were lean and smooth, especially when they rested on my shoulders. To finish off her look, she wore a pair of black Dolce and Gabbana logo heels with several gold ankle bracelets.
This sudden need to be near Amai couldnât be ignored. So, I placed my glass on the table and turned to Raye and Jaide, who were engrossed in a conversation.
